Eurovision Song Contest 2015 unveils stage plans

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 has unveiled its plans for the staging at this year's competition, Digital Spy reports.

This year's show will be the 60th edition when it takes place in Vienna, Austria, with the host broadcaster ORF revealing its plan for the grand stage.

The set will incorporate 1,288 individual pillars fitted with LED lighting that will be capable of producing a number of different effects.

The stage will measure 44 metres in width, 14.3 metres in height and up to 22 metres in depth.

"The vision for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is the bridge from the past to the present and the future," explained Kathrin Zechner, ORF's TV director.

"The eye is a symbol of this bridge – a mutual respect between cultures, countries and people."

Primetime Emmy winners Florian Wieder (Creative Producer and Production Designer) and Al Gurdon have worked on the designs.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will take place on May 23 with last year's winner Conchita Wurst to present coverage from the Green Room.

Spain's Edurne, the Netherlands' Trijntje Oosterhuis and Malta's Amber are among some of the first competitors confirmed.
