Last year, after winning the runner-up People's Choice award prize at the Toronto International Film Festival Midnight Madness section, Mike Flanagan brought "Oculus" to SXSW, where it gained even more buzz and became a mini horror hit. Now the filmmaker is making the leap to studio movies. This spring he brings "Before I Wake" to the big screen, and the first trailer is here, IndieWire reports.
Starring Kate Bosworth, Thomas Jane, Annabeth Gish, Dash Mihok, and Jacob Tremblay, the story follows a married couple who adopt an 8-year-old boy. The problem? His dreams manifest in reality, and that means experiencing everything from his most pleasant imagination to, more crucially, the things that terrify him.
"Before I Wake" arrives on May 8.
