airBaltic has announced plans for a new route between Yerevan, the Armenian capital, and the Latvian capital Riga, Business Traveller reports.
The service will launch in June 2021, and is one of five new routes for the carrier next summer, with the others being to Yekaterinburg in Russia, Manchester in England, and Bergen and Trondheim in Norway.
“The safety and health of our employees and passengers has stood and will stand above all,” said Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic. “We see that people miss travelling. I strongly believe that the demand for flights will begin to grow in the coming months once reliable solutions such as vaccines and wider testing to limit the spread of Covid-19 are introduced.”
It was reported earlier that airBaltic would begin flights between Riga and Yerevan in May 2020 but the plans were scrapped because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
