No delays in chickenpox vaccine use: Health Minister

Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan has assured that there are no delays in the use of chickenpox vaccines. Speaking to reporters, she noted that the program has been well received by citizens and that vaccine usage is proceeding smoothly. She also mentioned plans to review the eligibility criteria for the national program, 1lurer.am reports.

Avanesyan added that the overall volume of various vaccines increased in 2024. She reminded that chickenpox vaccinations were initially scheduled to begin in December 2024, but due to slight supply delays, the process began by the end of January 2025.

She also stated that there were 26 recorded organ transplants in 2024, exceeding the projected number of 24. Additionally, there were 57 bone marrow transplants, surpassing the anticipated 56.

According to the minister, it is essential that the state has steadily expanded access to these costly but life-saving programs for citizens.

Previously, it was announced that in the initial phase, vaccinations would be administered to one-year-old children and individuals of pre-conscription age. Starting in 2027, the program will follow the national immunization calendar, with doses given to one-year-olds (first dose) and children aged 4-6 (second dose), similar to the schedules for measles and rubella.
