Armenian Youth Union (AYU) in South California is planning a protest action near Switzerland Consulate in Los Angeles. Protest organizers accuse Switzerland of being a mediator in the recently announced Protocols on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Armenia and Turkey. Protocols threaten the rights and interests of all Armenians, and the youth have taken it upon themselves to express their disapproval of Switzerland’s facilitation of this unfair process. Protest rallies will be attended by ARF Shant Student Association, Armenian Youth Federation, UCLA Armenian Students’ Association, Woodbury Armenian Student Association
As a country that has recognized – and even criminalized denial of – the Armenian Genocide, Switzerland should uphold it values of peace, truth and justice by refusing to facilitate Turkey’s coercion of Armenia in these protocol negotiations, AYU says in its release.
