Madrid Principles outlived themselves

New principles for Karabakh conflict settlement were worked out at trilateral Sargsyan-Aliyev-Medvedev meeting in St. Petersburg. Most probably, Armenia will agree to them, according to the head of Caucasus Institute Science Department Sergey Minasyan.

As he told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Ilham Aliyev’s demonstrative departure is explained by the fact that Baku does not find St. Petersburg principles beneficial.

“Newly-developed principles will form a basis for further negotiations, should they continue. Madrid Principles having outlived themselves. Yet, Russia’s intention to assume the role of main mediator in Karabakh settlement is obvious,” Minasyan emphasized.
