Opposition supporters, police officers, clash in Yerevan

A minor clash between opposition supporters and police officers took place near the premises of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Yerevan.

During a protest action, the policemen cordoned the building. When several oppositionists tried to break through, a police officer pushed away one of them, who fell on the ground. The incident resulted in a clash.

At the moment, the rally is over. The oppositionists demanded “to stop violence against political prisoners” following the statement of Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper detained editor Nikol Pashinyan who informed of assault on November 11.

After investigation and questioning of the other prisoners, the Armenian Ministry of Justice refuted the statement.

The opposition urges conduction of an independent expertise in presence of representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
