Alexander Markarov: PACE subcommittee on Karabakh will be unable to interfere in talks

The restored PACE subcommittee on Karabakh will not be able to influence the course of current negotiations, Armenian political expert believes.

As Alexander Markarov noted, whether formally or informally, conflicting parties agreed to OSCE Minsk Group as the format of negotiations.

“To work out a resolution on Karabakh issue, PACE subcommittee will need to gain a more detailed idea of regional situation, as well as conflicting parties’ positions, which will require significant time,” he said.

Political expert Yervand Bozoyan, in turn, noted that although unable to influence negotiation process, the subcommittee can become Turkey’s leverage of pressure on Armenia and NKR.
