RPA member: voter lists mustn’t be published

Member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) said only the parliament is authorized to make a decision on voter lists publication.

As Davit Harutyunyan told a press conference, Armenia followed the suit of Europe, which in 2002 statement confirmed the need to maintain data on voters, as non-participation in elections is also a political step.

RPA member said the decision of the inter-party headquarters to appeal to the Constitutional court over voter lists release is a subsequent step related to their election campaign.

A single inter-party headquarters to counter election frauds intends to address the Constitutional court with a request to rule the point of the Armenian electoral code banning publication of voter lists as unconstitutional, President of the Political Analysts Union Hmayak Hovhannisyan said.
