RPA pledges to free prisoners in exchange for votes – paper

According to Zhoghovurd paper, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) resorts to various methods in an attempt to garner votes.

The authorities negotiated with residents of Nerkin Bazmaberd village in Armenia’s Aragatsotn province promising to set free Artak Petrosyan sentenced for smuggling if RPA gets majority of votes in this rural community, paper claims.

Arteni village locals got similar pledges; here freedom was promised to homicide convict Vahram Khachatryan, against in case of majority support at the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, according to Zhoghovurd, RPA members still deny involvement of criminal leaders in their campaign.
