Gravity, the upcoming thriller starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as astronauts stranded at a space station, has been pushed to a 2013 release, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The film from writer-director Alfonso Cuarón was originally scheduled to open on November 21, 2012, but is now marked only as being an "unscheduled 2013" release.
Cuarón, who co-wrote the script for Gravity with his son, Jonas, considered many of Hollywood's top actresses for the physically demanding part of Dr. Ryan Stone, the woman at the story's center. The film was originally set up as a vehicle for Angelina Jolie at Universal; it later moved to Warners where everyone from Marion Cotillard to Scarlett Johansson tested for the role that would ultimately go to Bullock. In the film, a catastrophic accident leaves Bullock and Clooney "tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness," according to the official synopsis.
An early test screening of a rough cut of Gravity earlier this month in Pasadena, CA., drew strong reactions, both for and against, in response to the still-unfinished film.
Also on Warner Bros. moved up the release of its Sean Penn-Ryan Gosling noir thriller Gangster Squad from October to September 7. The studio also adjusted the release date of Beautiful Creatures from February 15 to February 13, just ahead of Valentine's Day.
