Paper says money laundering charges against ex-FM aim to please Russia

New Times party leader Aram Karapetyan has characterized money laundering charges against ex-Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian as a planned scenario, Yerkir paper reports.

He said that thought the scenario was well-developed, it was badly implemented, disgracing Armenia as a result.

“It turns out, that foreign ministers get involved in money laundering business after they quit their jobs. I wonder how much money Edward Nalbandian will launder?,” the paper quoted Karapetyan as saying, adding that former foreign minister Alexander Arzumanyan was also charged with the same crime.

According to the party leader, President Serzh Sargsyan tries to harm the pro-Western candidate, thus proving to Russia that RA authorities fight against West’s money in such a way. In other words, Karapetyan deems it a way to please Russia.
