"Jayne Mansfield's Car" boasts top-notch talent: Robert Duvall, Billy Bob Thornton, John Hurt, Kevin Bacon and Frances O'Connor — just to name the award winners and nominees in the lineup, TheWrap said.
But the 1960s-set film, directed and co-written by Thornton, amounts to more than the sum of its all-star cast: it tells an honest story about cultural and familial disparities.
Specifcally, the Alabama-based Caldwell family must meet with the British Bedfords to reclaim the body of their deceased mother. Thus ensues a culture clash, a lot of head-butting and, as suggested, a cameo appearance by the late actress' ride.
The question is whether these opposing families can put their differences aside and come together during their time of grief.
