Yerevan hosts 2nd stage of free trade agreement talks

On October 2 through 4, Yerevan hosted the second stage of the Free and Comprehensive Trade Agreement negotiations.

The Armenian negotiating group was headed by the Deputy Economy Minister Garegin Melkonyan, while the European group was led by the head of unit for trade aspects of European neighbourhood policy and trade relations with countries of the CIS and Balkans of the European Commission’s Directorate General of Trade, Luc Pierre Devigne.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the contents of the agreement to be signed, as well as the future directions of the cooperation including the competitiveness, technical and trade barriers, customs issues, sanitary and phytosanitary.

The 3rd stage of free trade agreement talks, due December 3-5 in Brussels will focus on discussion of trade services, state purchases, settlement of disputes and energy, in addition to issues covered.
