Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with the delegation headed by Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs.
Welcoming the guest, PM Sargsyan expressed Armenia’s readiness to deepen relations with Latvia.
Minister Rinkēvičs, in turn, voiced willingness to expand cooperation with Yerevan.
Dwelling on economic ties, the two men hailed boosting of Armenian-Latvian trade turnover, noting that the establishment of an intergovernmental commission will give renewed impetus to cooperation between the two countries.
Latvian official highly assessed Armenia’s reform implementation in the framework of Eastern Partnership (EaP) program, voicing confidence for the country to become the first EaP member to join visa facilitation agreement.
Prime Minister Sargsyan said that active measures are taken to foster Armenia’s joining the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, with the two stages of negotiations completed.
The officials further dwelt on regional issues, with Prime Minister Sargsyan stressing the importance of establishment of peace and security to Armenia, despite militaristic and non-constructive statements by Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Reflecting Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Minister Rinkēvičs noted the issue should be resolved in OSCE Minsk Group framework.
