After teaming up with George Clooney for three heists in Ocean's 11 and two sequels, it sounds like Matt Damon is going to help the actor and director track down some stolen goods this time. As Firstshowing reported citing Deadline, Damon is in talks to join the cast of The Monuments Men, the next directorial gig for Clooney who will also star in the film.
The film already features an incredible cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban and Hugh Bonneville in the story of a hand-picked group of art experts chosen by the U.S. government to retrieve artwork stolen by the Nazis.
Clooney is co-writing the film with his producing partner Grant Heslov and chronicles one of the final moments in the reign of the Nazi party rule in Germany.
The party is trying to cover the tracks of their violent history as Clooney takes on the role of George Stout, a U.S. Army officer and leading art conservationist, trying to repatriate tens of thousands of pieces of art from the Nazis.
Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox are co-producing the film which starts shooting in Europe next month.
