Samsung on Friday, December 28 has announced that they’ll be bringing their buildings and R&D department to California and Silicon Valley once again. They’ve announced that Samsung Semiconductor will be expanding operations in San Jose and opening two new facilities, one being over 1.1 million square feet, Android Community said.
Samsung is looking to beef up their production stateside and have confirmed some big plans for 2013. The first being a 1.1 million square foot 10 story Sales and R&D department for Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. It will offer covered parking for all employees, an amenity pavilion and much more. This will be just north of downtown San Jose, California.
Samsung states that the 1.1 million square feet sounds bigger than it really is, and that the layout will actually be designed to “encourage interaction among the staff” along with several other key design elements. This new R&D center will be slightly bigger than Apple’s new 3,600 employee center in Texas.
Samsung is also preparing a new building for Samsung Information Systems America Inc. This facility will be quite large too, and their R&D center will be relocated to an 8.5 acre 6 story building with quite the view of a nearby golf course. Both new facilities will be “state of the art” and have innovative energy efficient offices.
