“Twilight”’s Rachelle Lefevre to topline Stephen King’s “Under the Dome”

CBS' Under the Dome has found its leading lady. Twilight's Rachelle Lefevre has been tapped to join the network's sci-fi drama, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Based on the book by Stephen King, the summer series follows residents in the community of Chester's Mill as they deal with the post-apocalyptic conditions that ensue when a strange dome mysteriously encapsulates the town.

Lefevre will play Julia, an investigative reporter who just moved from Chicago to Chester's Mill with her husband, a doctor at the town's medical center. She's the editor of the town's local paper and is intrigued after learning of multiple deliveries of propane gas to a nearby warehouse. She's baffled by the appearance of the strange dome but more concerned with the whereabouts of her mysteriously missing husband.

CBS Television Studios will produce the drama, which was picked up straight to series, in association with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television.

Lefevre joins a cast that also includes Breaking Bad's Dean Norris, Pan Am's Mike Vogel, True Blood's Aisha Hinds, Secret Circle's Britt Robertson, CSI: NY's Natalie Martinez, Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong, Alex Koch and Colin Ford.

Under the Dome premieres June 24 on CBS.
