Minister slams Hovannisian’s post-election position

The post-election period in Armenia must have followed the path, stipulated by former presidential candidate, Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian’s campaign, Minister of Education and Science said.

“Transformation of “Raffi’s modern style” into the traditional style of the defeated opposition is apparent,” Armen Ashotyan told Feb 21 press conference.

He further noted “gluing” of 37%votes that Mr Hovannisian garnered in Feb 18 elections as the goal of the recent rallies.

“Mr Hovannisian received the votes of the entire opposition’s electorate. He didn’t possess his own political capital,” Minister Ashotyan said.

In this context, he noted that the post-election developments may transform Raffi Hovannisian into a politician to manage the 37% votes he garnered.
