ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER TO MEET WITH US ADMINISTRATION IN WASHINGTON

Within the framework of his visit to the US February 4 Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian met with US administration high-rank officials. As reported by the Armenian foreign ministry press service, yesterday the minister met with US assistant secretary of state Richard Armitage, undersecretary of state for political affairs Mark Grossman and US national director for combating terrorism, general John Gordon. Issues of Armenian-American relations and prospects of their development, regional cooperation, Karabakh settlement, as well as the situation around Iraq were discussed in the course of these meetings. The parties also considered the course of the presidential electoral campaign in Armenia. In his speech delivered in Nixon Center the same day V.Oskanian presented the urgent issues of the Armenian foreign policy, specifically, Armenia’s relations with the countries of the region to the US administration and foreign diplomats. After the meeting with US secretary of energy Spencer Abraham today Vardan Oskanian will hold discussions with co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) and Frank Pallone (D-NJ).
