Armenia to Get $230 Million within the Framework of Millenium Challenges Account

Within the Millenium Challenges Account Armenia will get a larger sum than the Government has expected – some $230 million. Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Armenia Tigran Khachatryan stated it. In his words, the increase of the sum is conditioned by Millenium Challenges Corporation experts considering that the Account did not take into account some price factors in the coming years. T. Khachatryan remarked that if the agreement on implementation of the account is signed in early 2006, small investments will be made during next year. The program, presented by the Armenian Government, provided for receiving $175 million. The program provided for allocating $118 million for the irrigation system, while $57 million for repair of community roads of, The Deputy Minister said, reported the Yerkir newspaper.
