Kurdistan’s independence will harm Armenia’s foreign policy – expert

The region faces tough challenges that may seriously affect Armenia’s foreign policy, political expert said.

Sergey Shakaryants noted Turkey and Iran as the two leaders in the region, with the superpowers seeking to weaken Ankara’s positions, bringing about intensification of the Kurdish issue.

“Armenia will lose its political agenda if independent Kurdistan comes to replace genocide-perpetrator Turkey as its geographical border,” the expert said, adding that newly independent Kurdistan won’t be accountable for Ankara’s past.
