Armie Hammer in Johnny Depp’s “Lone Ranger” featurette

It's a good thing Armie Hammer isn't afraid of heights. Or maybe he is, and he's just that good of an actor. The "Lone Ranger" production required him to stand atop a towering "spirit platform" erected on the edge of a cliff 2,000 feet high in the Mojave Desert, TheWrap said.

A new behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming Disney release captures the nerve-wracking shot of Hammer's character awakening after he was killed by a gang of outlaws. The shot's already been seen in most of the trailers promoting the Gore Verbinski film.

It's a sleepwalkers nightmare scenario, for sure.

"The Lone Ranger" rides into theaters, with Johnny Depp starring as Native American sidekick Tonto, on July 3.
