Family Guy hit the Emmy campaign trail this week with a predictably racy For Your Consideration spot, though the Fox comedy made the somewhat surprising choice to target one of its competitors in the spoof, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The full page, which was paid for by Twentieth Century Fox TV and appears in the June 21 issue of The Hollywood Reporter, depicts Family Guy characters Brian, Quagmire, Peter and Joe posing as Girls actresses Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams, Lena Dunham and Zosia Mamet, respectively.
In spoofing Girls, Family Guy also is taking a shot at one of its strongest competitors. Unlike most animated series, Family Guy regularly is submitted in the race for overall best comedy series. It hasn't scored a nomination in the category since 2009 — unlike Girls, which brought in a best comedy nom in 2012 and went on to win a Golden Globe in the same category.
