James Bond flick “Skyfall” leads movie home video sales chart

Skyfall has proven to be the biggest selling video of 2013 so far, Digital Spy said citing the Official Charts Company.

The latest James Bond outing, starring Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, leads the chart for movie home video sales, ahead of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and musical Les Misérables. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 landed in fourth place, while Taken 2 completed the top five.

In total, Skyfall shifted more than 2.8 million units over the six-month period up until Saturday, June 29.

The video market was dominated by various box sets of Brendan O'Carroll sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys and HBO's acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones.

Martin Talbot, chief executive of the Official Charts Company, said: "The strength of Skyfall, Game of Thrones and Mrs Brown's Boys (not to mention other big sellers such as The Hobbit, Life of Pi, Les Misérables and Breaking Dawn 2) shows that DVD and Blu-ray continues to be a hugely popular entertainment format – either as a personal treat or a gift."
