The LG G Watch will include support for 3G connectivity, according to a report, Digital Spy said.
G for Games brings word from the firm's native South Korea that the device will standalone as a 3G-ready smartwatch.
However, the LG G Watch is not expected to include phone call functionality like the rumoured Samsung Galaxy Gear Solo.
The LG G Watch will remain active at all times, delivering relevant information to users based on their demographic and location, and the time of day.
Featuring a 1.85-inch display and 4GB of internal memory, the wearable will be released this summer with a £180 price tag.
The LG G Watch is one of two confirmed smartwatches running off Google's Android Wear operating system, the other being Motorola's Moto 360.
