Ron Howard is to direct a documentary about The Beatles' early years, Digital Spy reported.
Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono are working with Howard on the project, which will focus on 1961 to 1966.
It will see how the Fab Four went from Liverpool's Cavern Club to their final public concert in San Francisco.
Howard described the film as an "astounding story" of "four young men who stormed the world in 1964".
He added: "Their impact on popular culture and the human experience cannot be exaggerated."
The Apollo 13 filmmaker will team up again with producer Brian Grazer on the project.
The film has yet to receive an official title or release date.
