Tilda Swinton is circling a major role in Marvel's new superhero movie "Doctor Strange". "The Grand Budapest Hotel" actress is in negotiations to play Ancient One, a Tibetan mystic who mentors Stephen Strange to become the next Sorcerer Supreme, TheWrap reports.
Benedict Cumberbatch is already cast to portray the titular neurosurgeon who gains superpowers after a horrific car accident. The mentor figure was originally a male character in the comic books. Morgan Freeman and Ken Watanabe were initially linked for the role.
Slated for November 4, 2016 release in the United States, the feature film is expected to become the "doorway" to enter the supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scott Derrickson ("Sinister", "Deliver Us from Evil") is attached to serve behind the lens.
