According to the researches held by the UN Development Program, Armenia is recognized the most progressive country of the region being the 76-th among the 173 countries of the world. According to the data on the UNDP 2002 website, other countries of the region – Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan occupy the 81-st, 85-th and 88-th places respectively. Among the CIS member states Belarus has the highest index, ranking 56. Russia follows it, being the 60-th. Let us note that the following components form the main criteria for the UNDP monitoring: the live expectancy, per capita income and educational level.
