FX picks up “American Horror Story” for Season 6

FX has picked up "American Horror Story" for a sixth installment. The new season will premiere in 2016. The Ryan Murphy horror anthology series has become the highest-rated show on FX and won 13 Emmy Awards over the course of its first five seasons, AceShowbiz reports.

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said in a statement on Tuesday, November 10, "With the sixth installment coming next year, 'American Horror Story' has unquestionably joined the ranks of television's landmark series. From Murder House to Hotel, 'AHS' has pioneered a new television form, as well as becoming FX's highest-rated show, while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity."

"This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining," John continued, "You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver."

Details for the theme and the cast for the upcoming season haven't been unveiled yet. Ryan previously revealed that had two ideas for the next season. He also approached Lady GaGa about returning to the series. He tweeted back in October, "Lady Gaga is so brilliant in AHS Season 5 that yesterday I officially asked her to join Season 6. Say yes @ladygaga!"
