Apple’s Live Photos appearing on Facebook

If you're an iPhone 6S owner, you'll no doubt be familiar with the Live Photos its camera can capture – and you can expect to start seeing them on Facebook going forward, Digital Spy reports.

Apple has announced that a "small percentage" of users are now able to share the moving images on the world's largest social network.

If you don't yet have the option to upload yours to Facebook, it shouldn't be long before you do, as a broader rollout of the feature will "continue in the new year".

Live Photos on Facebook won't be limited to iPhone 6S users as anyone running iOS 9 will be able to play them with a long press of their display.

But Apple has decided not to share the wealth with those on rival platforms – they will just see a static image when a Live Photo crops up in their feed.

Moving photos are expected to come as standard in most future high-end smartphones, with Samsung's Galaxy S7 expected to be the next high-end device to boast the necessary pressure-sensitive display.
