To celebrate the Special Edition release of Stone Roses: Made Of Stone, Shane Meadows' acclaimed documentary, Gigwise has got an exclusive behind the scenes clip from the making of the film.
Back in 2011, after a 16-year split, The Stone Roses reformed for a European tour, culminating in three triumphant homecoming gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park. The film, which was released a year later, captured the band as they prepared for one of the most hotly-anticipated reunions in British music.
There were few people better equipped to helm the documentary than Shane Meadows, who's responsible for brilliant feature films such as This Is England and Dead Man's Shoes, and to whom Stone Roses are "my all-time favourite band", Gigwise said.
"The main thing for me is I make a film from a fan's perspective," he explains in the Gigwise exclusive clip. "I don't try and be clever, I don't try and make a documentary like everyone else makes it, I make a film that I wanna see and that a fan wants to see first."
