Samsung’s Smart Glow notification ring leaked on upcoming Galaxy J2

Even though we sit some way off the launch of Samsung's Galaxy S8, that doesn't mean we can't endlessly speculate about its upcoming specs, Digital Spy said.

But thanks to the company's Galaxy J2 (2016), a phone about to be made available in emerging markets, we could have just received our first official look at the rumoured Smart Glow notification ring, Digital Spy said.

The ring is thought to use LED technology to show a different colour around the camera lens, signifying different notifications – potentially working in a similar way to the Edge lighting on S6 Edge and S7 Edge devices.

While this feature is unlikely to be shipped onto the Note 7 because of its apparent curved screen, it's highly likely we could see it on next year's curveless iPhone competitor, Digital Spy said.

SamMobile claims that the Smart Glow ring on the Galaxy J2 (2016) will light up to indicate incoming or missed calls and messages.

It can also show a low battery level, or help when taking selfies using the rear camera.

And future versions of the phone would potentially have more functionality offering features such as weather updates and heart rate monitoring.

While that remains to be seen, Samsung will release its Galaxy J2 update in India later this week.
