It is possible that the European Union might show interest in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in the nearest future. Armenian foreign minister stated that speaking at the parliament of the Armenia. According to him, the Armenian MFA works with all the European structures that have the Karabakh issue on the agenda. “At present they are two main organizations -the OSCE and the Council of Europe, that has recently activated its participation in that issue within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CE”, Oskanian stated. The Karabakh issue is brought up in other organization as well -the UNO, the BSEC and the European union that has started to attach special attention to the South-Caucasian region, he added. In Oskanian’s opinion, today there are no critical issues for Armenia. “There are some difficulties but we have managed to avoid statements that brought to serious problem in past, for example the 1996 Lisbon statement on Karabakh”, noted the minister. There is no such issue now and nothing like that is expected, he stated. It should be noted that 1996, December 3, it was declared at the OSCE Lisbon summit that Nagorno-Karabakh remained within Azerbaijan’s structure having the highest degree of autonomy and security guarantees. That did not get the nature of official document due to Armenia’s position.
