Nominations for the 2016 Annie Awards have been announced. In movie categories, Disney's "Zootopia" dominates the list with 11 nods, including Best Animated Feature, Animated Effects in an Animated Production and Character Animation in an Animated Feature Production, AceShowbiz reveals.
It is followed by Lakia's "Kubo and the Two Strings", which nabs 10 nominations. Other animated movies joining the race include "Finding Dory", "Kung Fu Panda 3" and the just-released "Moana", which is also nominated for Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production for its female lead, Auli'i Cravalho.
"Zootopia" and "Kubo and the Two Strings" are also up for Best Character Design in an Animated Feature Production, competing against "The Secret Life of Pets" and "Trolls". Meanwhile, movies like "Deepwater Horizon", "Doctor Strange", "Ghostbusters", "The BFG" and "Warcraft" are nominated in Animated Effects in a Live Action Production.
In TV categories, DreamWorks Animation Television and Disney Television Animation dominate the list with 9 and 8 nods respectively. "DreamWorks Trollhunters" leads the pack with 4 nods, while Disney's "Wander Over Yonder" has 3 nominations, including Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Children.
