Armenia PM hints he will continue heading the government after 2018

Armenian prime minister Karen Karapetyan hinted on Wednesday, June 21 that he will continue holding his post after 2018, when president Serzh Sargsyan’s term ends.

During discussions of the government program in the National Assembly, lawmaker from Yelk bloc Edmon Marukyan asked Karapetyan about the latter’s future as prime minister.

“If your are going to further be the PM, just say it out loud from the podium,” Marukyan said.

“I have answered that question for a number of times,” Karapetyan said.

“The program for 2017-2022 may also partially answer that question.”

Karapetyan has on numerous occasions said that he will further head the Armenian government. Sargsyan, in turn, has denied allegations that he is going to serve as prime minister after his term as president ends.
