ARMENIA TO OPEN MIGRATION CONTROL POINTS AT ITS BORDERS

The Department on issues of migration and refugees of Armenia plans to open migration control points at its frontier control posts. The head of the Department staff Vardan Gevorkian has stated that in his interview with “De-Facto” agency. The standard ways of the record of traffic flows getting across the Armenian borders are developed. It is also planned to establish Center for processing of the information from the migration control points. According to Gevorkian, the established record systems will allow the relative services to have a clear idea of the distribution of the migration flow from Armenia to the foreign countries. He noted this would allow bringing up the question on the protection of rights of Armenian citizens in other countries, particularly, the problems of the migrant job placement might be discussed. Besides, as Gevorkian noted, due to the record of the migration flows, it would be possible to know real number of the population that is very important for organization of election and for conducting economic policy in the state.
