Armenia, France discuss Azerbaijan’s aggression, provocations

National Assembly President Alen Simonyan and his French counterpart Richard Ferrand on Monday, November 22 "thoroughly discussed" the provocative and aggressive actions of Azerbaijan on the border with Armenia, the Armenian parliament said in a statement.

Simonyan said in Paris that the attack is the continuation of Azerbaijan's consistent policy of occupying the territory of Armenia which began on May 12. According to him, the offensive is also an attack on democracy.

The post-war situation and challenges facing the security of Armenia and the region were also on the table. Simonyan expressed his gratitude to France for the great attention shown towards the Armenian prisoners of war still being held hostage, the return of the civilians, the right of the Armenian refugees of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), the protection of historical-cultural heritage.

The two also affirmed with satisfaction the firmness of the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The delegation led Simonyan is in France at the invitation of the President of the Senate of France, Gérard Larcher. During the two-day working visit, the delegation will take part in the Forum "Armenia After One Year" to be held under the auspices of the President of the Senate of France.
