Armenia establishing Constitutional Reform Council

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has signed a decision on establishing a Constitutional Reform Council.

The Council will include the Minister of Justice, who will chair the Council, as well as the Representative of Armenia before the ECHR, Chairman of the parliament's Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the Human Rights Defender, one MP from each parliamentary party, and one representative from the Supreme Judicial Council.

Representatives of extra-parliamentary parties or blocs, as well members of non-governmental organizations too will have seats in the new Council.

"The Minister of Justice must, within one month, prepare and submit to the Prime Minister's Office a draft proposal on the establishment of the Constitutional Reform Council, the individual staff and the form of activity of the Council," the decision says.
