Armenian, Russian defense chiefs meet in Moscow

Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu in Moscow on Friday, February 25 to exchange views on international and regional security issues, as well as the Armenian-Russian military cooperation.

According to a press release from the Armenian Defense Ministry, the sides praised the dynamics of the Armenian-Russian allied cooperation, the political dialogue, the role and efforts of the Russian Federation aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region, as well as the effectiveness of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

During the discussions, they weighed in on the modernization of the Armenian Armed Forces and the process of reforms.

Papikyan also invited Shoigu to visit Armenia.
