Armenia denies Azerbaijan has advanced deeper into Syunik

The Armenian Defense Ministry has "categorically" denied that the Azerbaijani military has advanced further into Armenian territory near the village of Nerkin Hand, Syunik province.

A resident of the village told Sputnik Armenia on Tuesday, March 15 that the Azerbaijani troops entered into the territory of Armenia and advanced 500-1000 meters towards the village cemetery.

"The village gets its drinking water from here. It is in danger. We don't know what to do," the villager said, revealing that 20-25 troops were currently in the area.

The Defense Ministry maintained, however, that said territory is under the control of Azerbaijan but it couldn't be used in winter because their positions had not been equipped.

"Due to changing weather conditions, the Azerbaijani military is now returning to these positions," the Armenian side said.
