The Armenian and French foreign policy chiefs, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jean-Yves Le Drian, spoke over the phone Friday, March 18 and discussed a number of issues related to regional and international security․
According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, the two weighed in on the implementation of the road map of the Armenian-French economic cooperation․
Mirzoyan briefed his counterpart on the situation on the border with Armenia, the provocations by Azerbaijan and the ongoing ceasefire violations in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as evidence of targeting the civilian population, and exerting psychological pressure.
The sides also discussed issues related to the launch of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and stressed the role of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in the process.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry said in the statement earlier that Yerevan has "responded to the proposals of the Republic of Azerbaijan and applied to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship to organize negotiations on the signing of peace agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of the UN Charter, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Helsinki Final Act".
