Earthquake shakes Armenia-Georgia border area

A 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck the border area between Armenia and Georgia on Monday, May 2 morning, the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

The tremor happened at a depth of 10 km below the surface. It has not caused any damage, but was felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.

Weak shaking was felt in several communities of Shirak province.

A stronger quake shook the same area hours earlier and was felt in even more towns and cities in the north of the country.
