Lawmaker from the ruling Civil Contract party, Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security Affairs Andranik Kocharyan has said that the purchase of armaments was discussed during Defense Minister Suren Papikyan’s recent trips to France and the United States.
Kocharyan said Wednesday, October 19 that issues of military and political cooperation between the countries and army building matters were high on the agenda, Factor.am reports.
Papikyan is currently in New Delhi, amid reports that Armenia is interested in purchased Indian missile systems and drones, and Kocharyan said Wednesday that the partnership is valuable in the sense that India has achievements in the field of arms production.
According to him, the authorities are currently focusing on upgrading the armaments and training the personnel at the moment.
According to recent reports, Armenia is also seeking to acquire Iranian-made drones.
