The International Committee of the Red Cross has delivered a truckload of medicines and other medical supplies from Armenia to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh).
According to Zara Amatuni, the head of communication and prevention programs of the ICRC’s Armenian office, the supplies were provided by the Ministry of Health of Armenia.
The ICRC has so far facilitated the transfer of two dozen critically ill patients from the besieged Karabakh to Armenia.
Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia – the Lachin Corridor – has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
