Opposition split deepens ahead of 2026 elections

The fragmentation within Armenia’s opposition is due to the approaching 2026 elections, according to political and public figure Edgar Ghazaryan, who expressed his views on Facebook.

He supposes that internal disputes and mutual accusations among opposition groups will intensify as the elections draw nearer.

“The reason for the opposition’s division is the 2026 elections. The closer we get to that date, the more criticism, accusations, and insults will escalate between factions. The only solution to overcome this undesirable situation is to initiate an impeachment process and unite around the goal of removing Nikol Pashinyan from office, directing all our collective efforts toward this objective,” Ghazaryan wrote.

He noted that nearly a month has passed since they submitted their appeals to National Assembly members. Despite some statements in favor or against, there has been no tangible progress so far. “I am confident that sooner or later it will become reality. Otherwise, the harshest blow will fall on those who are now fighting each other instead of targeting Nikol Pashinyan,” he added.

In recent weeks, mutual criticism and reproaches between the teams of Armenia’s second and third presidents have become more frequent.
