French companies are expected to participate in strategic infrastructure projects in Armenia’s Syunik region, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said at the fifth Armenia-France decentralised cooperation conference held in Goris.
“This conference taking place in Goris is a natural and expected development, given Syunik’s strategic importance to our country,” Kostanyan emphasized, according to CivilNet.
He added that the Armenian government is consistently working to develop the region and enhance its resilience.
“We particularly value France’s support in deepening the Armenia–EU partnership and bringing us closer to Europe,” said Kostanyan, highlighting that this support is not only symbolic but also practical.
The Deputy Minister also stressed the significance of the official opening of France’s honorary consulate in Goris, calling it a clear demonstration of political will.
“Armenia and France have never been closer. Our relations have reached an unprecedented high level, and this cooperation also aims to help Armenia tackle regional challenges,” he stated.
The conference was organized jointly by Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Association of French Communities, the Syunik Regional Administration, and Goris Municipality.
