Tech leap forward: Armenia to host major AI infrastructure

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan praised the collaboration between NVIDIA and Firebird to build AI infrastructure in Armenia. Firebird, a cloud AI company, and the Armenian government, with support from NVIDIA, have launched an initiative to develop a leading AI infrastructure in the region, according to a Firebird statement via Armenpress.

The company plans to launch the project in 2026 using thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, creating a system with over 100 megawatts of power. Firebird outlined a $500 million public–private partnership aimed at advancing AI technologies in Armenia.

Officials note that this new AI hub will be a key milestone on Armenia’s path to becoming a tech leader.

“We welcome NVIDIA’s partnership and the work with Firebird to construct AI infrastructure in Armenia. This is a significant step in strengthening our tech sector and global partnerships,” said Prime Minister Pashinyan, adding that the government is pleased to support this initiative and open new opportunities for the Armenian people and the region.

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that AI factories are the infrastructure of the 21st century.

Firebird.ai co‑founder and CEO Razmik Hovagimian stated the goal is to create an innovative launchpad from Armenia to the global stage.

“We will invest in cutting‑edge models, robotics and sciences in partnership with world‑leading universities, and build capabilities to incubate the next generation of innovators in Armenia,” Hovagimian said.

U.S. Ambassador Christina Kvien expressed enthusiasm for the project: “We are excited about U.S. tech exports and AI leadership fueling more innovation in Armenia’s dynamic tech sector, benefiting both the United States and Armenia.” She added that U.S. firms, including NVIDIA, continue to offer leading solutions globally. “We are proud they are preferred partners for Armenian counterparts.”

The initiative was also welcomed on Facebook by Minister of High‑Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.

“The AI factory will become a platform for innovation, education, science and entrepreneurship. It will boost local and international startups, ensure science‑tech linkage, and turn Armenia into a regional techno‑hub for real AI creation. With this initiative, Armenia not only responds to global tech shifts but becomes part of them. A new platform is forming where local talent can create relevant solutions aligned with international developments. This is a strategic investment in our country’s long‑term technological progress,” the minister stated.

Firebird.ai, founded in San Francisco and Yerevan, plans to launch the Caucasus’ first and largest AI supercomputer in 2026, powered by NVIDIA Blackwell processors. Its future branches will serve as sustainable, high‑performance AI infrastructure for emerging global markets while investing in strengthening local tech talent.
