Seyran Ohanyan, head of the Armenia parliamentary faction, published on Facebook the list of signatures from all 28 of its members and stated that this number is insufficient to initiate impeachment proceedings.
“These are the signatures of all 28 deputies from the Armenia faction, which are not enough to launch the impeachment process,” he wrote.
He emphasized that rather than resorting to manipulations, efforts should now focus on obtaining signatures from members of the ruling Civil Contract party and independent MPs.
The statement also warned that if targeting of Armenia MPs continues following this disclosure, it will be clear to everyone what the true intentions behind the process are.
Separately, MP Ishkhan Saghatelyan stated that impeachment could become a real process if at least two more signatures are collected and street protests support the effort.
The I Have Honor faction, citing a statement by the Republican Party of Armenia’s Executive Body, decided at its June 7 meeting to initiate a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister in accordance with the Constitution and parliamentary regulations. They nominated David Hambardzumyan, head of the Masis community and member of the Republican Party Council, as the candidate for new prime minister.
