Clergy shouldn’t respond to anti-church narratives, says priest

Father Asoghik Karapetyan addressed journalists in a Facebook post, urging them not to spread or seek clergy commentary on what he described as well-known delusions. According to him, doing so only serves the interests of external, both secular and religious, forces engaged in a coordinated campaign against the Armenian Church.

He emphasized that the attacks targeting the Holy Church are part of a global strategy aimed at destroying true and sacred faith, eliminating national-ecclesiastical sovereignty, and dismantling traditional Armenian church-centered families.

“This campaign against the Holy Church has swept across the world. The goal is singular: to crush true and holy faith, dismantle our national-ecclesiastical sovereignty, and destroy church-based families—thus breeding a mass of mindless, identity-less, and soulless followers who serve anti-Christ,” he wrote.

He reminded readers that the Armenian Church has long been aware of such threats and has withstood similar assaults and repression throughout history with courage.

“Do not spread toxic words and ideas. Let us preserve the spiritual and mental purity of our faithful nation. The visible and invisible enemy, with its malevolent agents and servants, is sowing hostility in every possible way, trying to uproot love and unity from Armenian society.

Yet the Armenian Church and its oath-bound clergy have always been—and will remain—the leaven of that love and unity throughout the world.”

He concluded with a blessing: “Love and unity, light and peace to our beloved Nation and Homeland. May God be our helper.”
